Our Mission

Our Mission

We are a fitness program that lets children try out many different sports to find one they are truly passionate about. Since we work in low-income schools with a high Spanish population, many of the kids do not realize that there are many different sports and activities that they can try. While many of the kids love playing soccer, some of the kids have found a passion for jump-roping, playing volleyball, dancing, or playing with a hula-hoop. We aim to expose the kids to many different activities so they can find one activity that makes exercising fun.

More importantly, we aim to help kids improve their self-esteem before they head off to middle school. Middle school is a tough time for many kids simply because they lose that safety-net that is found in so many elementary schools. A low self-esteem can lead to kids giving into the negative influences all around them. We fight to buffer the kids against negative influences by showing them that everyone has strengths and that everyone's dreams are worth chasing.

Our Staff

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Our program was co-founded in the fall of 2012. The coordinators of the program are Parker Johnson ('15), Stacey Mangan ('15), and Chandler Washburn ('18). All of us are currently students at Wofford College. We all have backgrounds in organized sports and aim to bring the same experience we had as children to the kids we work with.

In addition to the coordinators, we would be no where without our wonderful volunteers. We are always actively looking for fun-loving volunteers who want to work with kids. If you are interested, please contact us!
